Castro de Barona
Yesterday we drove the girls through the mist and fog of a typical drizzly Galician day. We made our way to the coast to this ancient Castro. It is on a tiny peninsula with jagged rocks on each side. It was discovered in 1933 but had been used by the ancient inhabitants of Spain. In the 1st century a.d. it appears that the Romans had inhabited it.
In the rain and drizzle and crashing waves Lori asked, "Who would ever want to live in the cold dark wet place?" I said that it would be a good excuse to drink more cafe con leche.
